Melan Blue (Brigadoon Poster SNEAKPEEK)

I finally returned to drawing Melan, after all this time! (´▽｀)♡

I've been neglecting the Brigadoon anime for a while because of my major Transformers obsession, but recently my love for the show about the blue alien robot got my attention again, and suddenly I had this overwhelming need to attempt to draw Melan once more! But that meant it was the perfect time to finally get to that big poster project I had in my head since, well, a YEAR ago, about the GunSwordsmen from Brigadoon: Marin to Melan.

It helps that SoCal has been on the rainy side lately, which I've MIIIIIIIISSED SO MUCH, so with that comes a sort of drawing spree!

What I was originally gonna post as an ordinary sneak peek for the poster turned out to be a nice little piece by itself. After making two versions of the very same drawing with different filters each, and blending them together with contrasts and lighting effects, it started looking quite rainbow-y and I couldn't help but think this would be nice to put up, especially on the 3 year anniversary of my being a dA member! The rainbow and themes about colors are important in the Brigadoon anime, after all.

Of course, I used a couple of references because I cannot draw Melan from memory or I would SUCK. I swear, I needed to draw the lines ever so super-lightly before even darkening the pencil.

He's a fun challenge, though, and worth it.

Melan may look a bit different the next time you see him looking like this, as these are the raw pencils straight from my drawing that have yet to be inked over. And he won't be alone, either!

Melan Blue is from the anime series Brigadoon: Marin to Melan, owned by Sunrise. He is also quite possibly the hottest biomechanical alien in anime history. ( ¯ิ﹃ ¯ิ๑)
