Description

:iconreadplz:

I do! I love reading long descriptions, because you know what? Some of us have a LOOOOOOOT to say about what is dear to our hearts. And it's a great way to learn more about the drive behind the creations we see in a Gallery.

Just think about it... if the description is long, but you love the art so much that you juuuuuust gotta say something, then do what I do and bookmark the viewing page in your browser's website bookmarker so that you can go back to it and read more of, or the rest of, the description later. And then fave and comment if you'd like to say something about it. If needed, you can "fave now and comment later" after having read the artist's notes. This way, whatever you were thinking of saying that might've been said already in the description won't be repeated, the artist won't be annoyed, and you won't feel like a :poo:head.

I've come across some Deviations where the reply to several peoples' comments was "read the description" when a question was asked about the art. I felt so bad for both artist and commenter alike. :(

DeviantArt allows ample space for putting in as MUCH as we want to say about our art as we wish to, or as little as we want to say. Those who like to leave it blank or who haven't much to say about their own piece, it's fine... maybe you want to leave it completely open for interpretation, and that's fine and good. Nothin' wrong with that either. But the other extreme of describing the process of creating the art or other meaningful things about the piece is alright too. The description, more or less, is also part of the Deviation. At least, I think it is.

Hey... I'm not pressuring people to have to write long descriptions if they don't want to; of course, that is not my intention. This is simply to support those who do write long descriptions, and if we like their art, we owe it to them to read their notes on the piece before echoing their words. And speaking of words, a picture may be worth a thousand of them, but it's perfectly fine to elaborate on one aspect or a few, if one so wishes. And of course, it's best if the description relates to the art being presented on it's viewing page. So, describe away!

And before THIS description gets longer than it really needs to, then I say, use this as you would any other stamp in your Journal, Deviant ID, Newest Deviations section, and the Favorites section (and ShoutBoxes, if you have them). Copy/paste the thumbnail code at the right side of the page and stick it anywhere you'd like. :) Also, you've no need to ask me first before using this, it's free to use for all. Even for the Non-Premium DA members. ^.^

Enjoy! :D :happybounce: :D
